About Us

About Us

We are the Essex and Suffolk branch of the National Country Link organisation.

Country Link was formed in 1985 by a group of non political rural minded people mainly from young farmers helped by Farmers Weekly magazine who were looking for a group for those who were too old to be members of Young Farmers. Today we have members of all ages (all mainly over 30 with no upper limit.), married or single, rural or townie but with one thing in common we all enjoy the countryside.

Our annual subscription is only £20, of which £10 is the National fee and £10 goes to our group for our administration and to subsidise some of our events.

Events:

You can see from our events page that we hold a wide variety of outings around Essex and Suffolk and cater to most tastes. We hold two meetings a year to plan our programme and any member is welcome to put a suggestion forward. You can see pictures on our gallery page and read summaries of some events in pdf accessed from our links page.

It is easy to join our group, you are welcome to attend two of our events to meet us before you make your decision and apply for membership.

In addition to our local events there are also National gatherings, twice a year (Spring and Autumn). These are weekends held by different groups running on a general format of meet on a Friday for a fancy dress evening, Saturday usually has trips to local points of interest/farm trips and walks followed by a black tie dinner and Sunday has more visits, lunch then a meeting where anyone can make points to the National commitee regarding the running of Country link and if you want a fun evening before departing there is usually a quiz. Throughout the year there are some one night functions where one group will invite all other groups to come and join them.
